Five inventions that promote green trucking

Before talking about the inventions that promote green trucking, we need to understand the concept of trucking. What is it? How does it work? Generally trucking means transportation and distribution of commercial as well as industrial goods by using commercial motor vehicles (VMC) which are most often trucks. Though trucking industry being small scale industry yet it plays a vital role in the economy of a country as it not only provide transportation and distribution of goods, it also provides employment to millions of people.
Green trucking
1. Solar power truck terminal
The concept of solar power truck terminals is based on the idea that sun is a limitless source of energy and this solar technology is the future of clean, cheap and efficient energy production. This technology will solidify the trucking business as it will reduce the fuel cost and also the emission of greenhouse gases in this process is absolutely zero percent. According to some sources this technology will reduce emission of about 521 metric tons greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, lead, carbon etc. and save around 58,414 gallons of gasoline. New England Motor Freight at its two New Jersey truck terminals totally rely on solar power. This clearly shows that the use of solar energy among transporting companies is increasing with the passage of time.
eStar trucks are yet another example of best inventions that promote green trucking. These trucks are designed in such a way to be highly proficient and electric. In comparison to their typical electric counterparts they are more efficient and more effective. These trucks are road tested and on a single charge, they can carry goods up to 100 miles with a remarkable acceleration. This has become possible because of continuous endeavor of Navistar, the global leader in clean vehicle technology. Navistar has opened many plants in Indiana where trucks are designed keeping the needs of future generations in mind. The popularity of these trucks can be imagined by this point that companies like Coca-Cola and Fedex have included them in their fleets.
3. LNG tractors
Natural gas is one of the best option of clean and cheap fuels that are currently available to us today. Natural gas has its own numerous merits like it is available in abundance, easily available and eco-friendly. Like other fossil fuels (patrol, diesel, etc.), the emission of green house gases in it is almost negligible. Due to its aforementioned qualities it is used in LNG tractors. It has a great potential from the futuristic viewpoint that is why companies like C.R.England have LNG tractors in their fleet.
4. Idle Air
After a long and hectic session of long haul driving the drivers spend hours in idling. According to EPA the typical types of trucks spend around 2400 hours while idling. During their idling process they have to leave the engines of their trucks on so that they can meet their needs like heating and cooling, standard electric inside as well as outside the truck and in this process gallons of diesel is wasted every year. But, Idle Air offer all these needs while keeping the engines of their trucks off. It not only saves money but also provide a better sleep without any sort of sound, vibration and exhaust fumes. In Idle Air saves one gallon of diesel is saved per truck in an hour. In comparison to a typical idling, Idle Air requires very less amount of energy. The energy used by a truck while idling is sufficient enough for ten trucks idling in Idle Air.
5. The Nose Cone
The mileage of a vehicle depends upon its shape up to a large extent and it also depends on the climatic condition (as the wind conditions change according to the climate). Larger the aerodynamic force offered by a vehicle, the lesser will be its speed and ultimately lesser will be its mileage. Thus, to improve the fuel efficiency of the vehicles Nose Cone made air reflectors which offer lesser air resistance. These air reflectors are available in 150 different shapes and sizes for different types of trailers and trucks to increase their fuel efficiency.
