Five green cars designed for Volkswagen


For companies to remain competitive in the days to come, it is essential to keep upgrading the business and the products to wow the consumers. VW hybrid concept
The new NILS by Volkswagen is a compact and lightweight electric car that will carry only one rider. The chassis is made from aluminum and polycarbonate door panel are used for making it ultra-light. It weighs even less than 1000 pounds. NILS is powered by a 42 pounds, 33 horsepower electric engine. It takes two hours for charging and it will cover 40 miles per charge. A portable infotainment unit controls navigation and radio systems. A seven-inch TFT display faces the driver. It comes with drilled breaks and it is fitted with multi-link suspension.
2. Volkswagen L1 Hybrid Concept Car
Volkswagen’s new diesel-hybrid will be among the most fuel efficient cars once it comes into production. It uses only 1.38 liters of diesel for every 100 kilometer. It is extremely aerodynamic and has a CD of 0.25. The body of the car is made using carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) and it is as low in height as the Lamborghini Murcielago. This makes the car super slippery. The new car weighs 840 pounds only, not exactly feather light, but not as heavy too. Drivetrain weighs 122kg, chassis 79kg, interiors 35kg, electric system about 20kg and the weight of the body takes up 124kg.
A nice ride for the taxi drivers, this double tone green and black emission free car is targeted for cities like New York, Cape Town etc. The length of this car is 3.73 meters, its height is 1.60 meters and the width of the car is 1.66 meters. It has only one swivel-sliding door which extends up to the roof. Very convenient for the consumer to use, there is an 8-inch touchsreen in the backside, that displays taxi charges and allows payment using debit and credit cards. Navigation data of various type too can be accessed like the weather data, time and date etc. It is powered by an electric motor with a capacity of 85KW and has a top speed of 120 km/h.
4.VW Golf Diesel BlueMotion concept
Too expensive to be produced, but nonetheless who knows one might to get to see it on the roads some day. Rated at 62MPG US, this model has more chances to come to the market unlike the previous version which was rated at 70MPH US. This car has a 1.6 liter TDI diesel engine which will easily meet the Euro-5 standards. This engine generates 104 horespower. It takes 11.3 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 62mph. The top speed of the car is 117mph. The tag of BlueMotion is designated to the most efficient vehicles of Volkswagen.
5.VW hybrid coupe concept
This hybrid coupe is said to have four gasoline cylinders combined with a 1.1KWH lithium-ion battery to give 45 miles per gallon.The gasoline engine gets automatically disconnected when not needed which allows to cut down the drag. For pure electric driving, it has a seven speed automatic gear box. A total power of 177 horsepower can be generated, deriving 150 horsepower from the gasoline engine and the rest 27 horsepower from the electric motor. An 8 inch touchscreen has also been installed for manipulating the navigation and radio systems.
