Classic Cars of CUBA

An estimated 60,000 classic American cars are still on the streets of Cuba. The cars remain in service as a result of the 1962 embargo put on Cuba by the U.S., cutting off trade with the country. Many are used as taxis, or the parts are sold to keep other cars on the road; because of the embargo, no replacement parts are available. The cars are very popular with tourists, and organized sightseeing tours are offered in them.
